Countries

Not a very impressive list compared to some people I know, but we all have to start somewhere, right? Listed chronologically.

United States of America | Bahama Islands | France | Italy | Canada | Hong Kong | China | Macau | Singapore | Indonesia | England | Spain

States

My goal is to visit all 50 states (actually, my goal is to complete the All-America Challenge - see above). And airports don't count. While I consider driving through a state a "visit," I try to make the event memorable by spending some quality time there. Click on the link to see more about each state.

Travelogues

Here are some online travelogues that are definitely worth seeing. Keep checking back, because new ones are constantly appearing.

Vanderven - This site was created by a Belgian expat living in China. This isn't really a travelogue, but his travel stories are pretty good. It's also a very well designed site. Spend some time getting lost in his links page.

TRAVELPLEX! - About a recent college graduate's trip through New Zealand, Indonesia, Nepal, and many other South East Asian countries. A little opinionated and discontinuous, but not bad overall.

El Nino World Tour - Focuses mainly on Asia, with a little bit of Africa, the Middle East, and Europe thrown in. I haven't explored all of it yet, but it looks quite interesting.

The Exploring Travelogue - Again, mostly SE Asia. This site has a lot of good pictures.

Rocky and Sarah's Travel Diary - A travelogue that commenced in September 1999. Looks like they will have good coverage of Eastern Europe and Asia.

Pack Notes - A very good site with a seven-month round the world travelogue and other assorted stories and pictures.

Daniel Llata's Cyber Lounge -

Travelog.net -

Yahoo! Travelogues - Browse through dozens of sites like the ones above.

Road Trips

Thunder over Louisville
The largest fireworks display in the US occurs in Louisville two weeks before the Kentucky Derby.
Spring Green
Home of an architectural oddity known as House on the Rock. This place defies description. Read what Patrick Combs thought about it. Not far away is Talisen, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's personal residences.
Quad Cities
I finally made it to Iowa. I was right, there wasn't much to do there. If you are into military history, check out the Rock Island Arsenal. There are also a lot of nice bike trails along the Mississippi.
Saugatuck, MI
One of the most charming small towns I've been to.
Highlands, NC
A quiet little town in the mountains of western North Carolina. There are a lot of great hiking trails in the vicinity, too.

Future Travels

I am constantly planning future trips. Here are a few locations that are currently on my list.

Western Tour - I've been planning a trip out west for over a year now, but keep having to put it off due to real world committments. There are many National Parks around there that I want to see; Zion, Arches, Bryce Canyon, along with Glen Canyon, Monument Valley, and so forth.

Casablanca, Morocco - The section on Morocco in The Size of the World has piqued my interest. Plus, the movie is just fantastic, even though it was shot on a Hollywood lot thousands of miles away.

Istanbul, Turkey - Again, from The Size of the World. This is where Asia and Europe meet.

Kathmandu, Nepal - I've read a lot about Nepal in various books.

Alaska - I want to spend a couple of weeks camping and hiking here.
